Betfair are known for their innovative ideas - they were, after all, the first betting exchange. So when they put their thinking caps on to come up with a new casino concept, we knew we'd be in for a treat. Luckily they didn't disappoint and in 2006, the Zero Lounge was launched.
The Zero Lounge is actually a relatively simple concept - there is no House Edge. Unlike every other casino in the world, the games favour neither the player nor the casino. But how do these games differ? To answer that, we need to look at each game individually.
Currently four games are offered in the Zero Lounge: Zero Roulette, Zero Blackjack, Zero Baccarat & Zero Jacks or Better (Video Poker).
In regular Roulette the House Edge comes from the presence of a green '0'. In Zero Lounge Roulette the '0' has simply been removed. This leaves 36 regular numbers - 18 Red, 18 Black - to give you true odds on every bet.
Blackjack already has one of the lowest House Edges. To make the edge even lower, Zero Blackjack pays out at 2:1 for a suited natural blackjack and a 5 card 21.
Baccarat players can take advantage of a reduced banker commission - just 2.75% in Zero Baccarat.
Zero Jacks or Better (Video Poker)
To make this popular form of Video Poker a Zero Lounge game, the payout for a Royal Flush has been increased by 22%.
Each of these games, when played with optimal strategy, return a payout rate of 100.0%.
* Please note that the Zero Lounge games do not count towards the wagering requirements of the welcome bonus.
